Lockheed M-21 Blackbird with D-21 Drone.
The Lockheed M-21 is a variant of the A-12 (SR-71), the earliest Blackbird type. The M-21 carried the D-21 Drone which was used to gather intelligence data. The drones were intended to be launched from M-21 and fly over areas and keep manned assets out of harms way. In addition to the pilot, a launch control officer sat in the aft cockpit to launch the drone.This M-21 is one of two aircraft built, the other was lost while launching a D-21 drone.
